The Dream Of Lehi

Lehi’s Dream

Lehi’s dream should be considered by Asian countries as the greatest vision ever received, simply because modern Chinese characters have evolved from ancient oracle drawings connected with this dream. These drawings, handed down over 3000 years, have become the modern Chinese language.

Through this passage of time, the meaning of the drawings has been altered, to bring us the characters we have today. We can find the original meaning of these drawings by studying them with a representational approach, leaving the simplicity of the drawing to settle on our mind.

Map of Lehi’s Dream

This is Lehi’s dream sketched out according to explanation through scripture. Several oracle drawings are used in this sketch that will be explained in detail throughout this article.

The dream of Lehi is in the Book of Mormon, and this dream or vision we can draw by the ancient Chinese oracle pictures.

The Tree Of Life

The oracle drawing “life” as a tree is a very simple tree with only three branches and no leaves. This is not a childlike painting. It is a real word from the oracle of the Shang Dynasty. The meaning of this word today is “ born, live, and life”. It is a very common character in Chinese.

The fruit of the tree of life was white, and the white exceeded “all the whiteness that Lehi had ever seen” (1 Nephi 8:11). Lehi partook and ate it. He found “that it was most sweet, above all that he ever before tasted.”(1 Nephi 8:11) He also beheld the fruit “was desirable to make one happy”(1 Nephi 8:10).

The fruit of the tree of life is 1) desirable, 2) it is white, and 3) it is desirable to make one happy.
1) Desirable: The oracle drawing “ hundred ” is a fruit on a branch. Although it is only a fruit on a branch, it means “hundred” much more than “one”, and “hundred” is also“ most desirable ” than “one”.
